Salty Sue’s Restaurant Review
Technically, this place is called Salty Sue’s Seafood, Oysters, Steak & BBQ Restaurant, but that’s a mouthful, so we’ll just stick with the more user-friendly Salty Sue’s.
This is one of my husband’s favorite places to eat—partially because it’s across the street from his office but mostly because the food is delish! Every now and then, I’m lucky to be free at the same time he is, and we make a lunch date out of it…like we did today!
First off, I love the atmosphere of this place. The art on the walls is fun and tasteful, and the red brick interior just makes my heart happy. There are plenty of booths and tables to choose from, or if it tickles your fancy, you can sit at the bar in front of the ginormous TVs, where you won’t miss a single touchdown! (Or goal. Or run. Or point. Depending on what time of year it is.)
The menu is just the kind I like—lots and lots of options! From a mess of appetizers, to sandwiches, steaks, seafood, and BBQ, it’s impossible to not find something that you’ll love.
My hubby found his favorite and orders it every time—pretty sure it’s only on the lunch menu, but check out the pork sandwich! It’s huge and the special BBQ sauce that they keep at the table is finger-lickin’ good. Served with a side of steak fries, this is plenty of food to fill you up and taste good going down.
I’m 9ish months pregnant, and today the baby wanted a bacon burger, so that’s what I ordered. (I have only a few days left to blame my not-always-the-very-best-food-choices on baby, so I’m taking advantage of them. I didn’t really NEED the bacon on top…) Truthfully, the burger would have likely been a tiny bit dry on its own, but I did order it well-done, so that’s my fault. With the mayo and super tasty BBQ sauce that I put on top, along with the tomato and lettuce, it was still mighty tasty!
Let’s talk about the fries for a minute. I love fries, in general. Seriously, while I don’t eat them super duper often, they’re probably one of my favorite foods. Salty Sue’s fries? Not write-home-about awesome. However, when dipped in a delightful mixture of BBQ sauce and mayo (“fry sauce”), they became pretty tasty, and I gobbled down every one! So make sure to make use of the handful of sauces that are kept on every table.
Overall? Yep, we’ll go back. Yep, I’ll even likely order the burger again. But next time I want to try something different, and I’m super excited to check out some of their awesome looking appetizers! Ooh, and I may even woman up and order some seafood! I’ll keep you posted!
